Mega Marine Survey digs up 100 species!

The Mega Marine Survey has uncovered 100 species, some are new to Singapore or to science, even though the project is only one-third through!
This was highlighted in a Straits Times article today by Grace Chua. Among the featured creatures is this anemone found deep into the mudflats of Lim Chu Kang. This bumpy, warty sea anemone so new to science, it does not even have a scientific name yet. The volunteers have fondly nicknamed it Bill and it has seen at other locations in Singapore too.

4 Feb (Sat): Celebrate World Wetlands Day at Sungei Buloh

Singapore has wonderful wetlands to celebrate on World Wetlands Day, 2 Feb! Mangroves, freshwater swamps and streams and more! In 2012, theme is wetland tourism. This cartoon charmingly illustrates some of the issues of tourism.

In Singapore, Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve celebrates World Wetlands Day with special events on 4 Feb (Sat) including talks on mangroves, food tasting and displays of fishes and other mangrove creatures!
